An Old Man and a Cat
A performative-storytelling on the magical worlds of books. The sharing (instead of a ‘show’) will also gently place the joys and challenges of being considered different and the pain that is caused by teasing and bullying those of us who do not fit into our common understanding of the world. The sharing features an old man – ‘Sulky Uncle’ and a cat – ‘Manuli’. While Sulky is grumpy and hates books. Manuli is fun-loving and loves books. She also goes ‘moo’ instead of the more common ‘meow’. As the old man and the cat spend time together, a friendship develops, gradually softening the old man's rigid opinions about books and people. The 75-minute, interactive engagement will include three stories from the Sringeri Srinivas series, written by Rohini Nilekani, and published by Pratham Books. Combining theatre, music and audience interactions; the sharing is most suitable for children between the ages of 8 and 10. The sharing is designed to travel to schools, institutions and organisations working with children. Please visit our blog for bookings. |

iha
A few of us have gathered to sing the songs of the 19th century poet-saint Shishunala Sharifa who lived in a little village called Shishunala near Hubballi, Karnataka. The songs are an invitation to play, reason, and imagine. We are travelling with the songs, meeting people, speaking and listening with them about the worlds we inhabit. These sharings (as we like to call them) are happening on streets, at shrines, in living rooms, on terraces, in studio spaces. You can visit our iha blog to know more and write in if you would like to host a sharing for your friends and family. iha means 'currently' or 'at the moment'. |

Touch
A theatre-informed workshop that is gentle, non-intrusive, and meandering. The work is based on the premise that life brings pressures of many kinds. which often creates ruptures and fissures in our beings. Through a process of remembering and recollecting we could gain powerful insights to re-form our personal narratives and wisdoms. Running since 2023, this is a monthly offer. Write to me at [email protected] to know more. |

We are all stories
A theatre based workshop exploring the contours of listening and telling. Through an engagement with individual and collective processes of theatre-making, the workshop offers diverse ways of ‘listening’ to different stories and deepen insights into one’s own personal ‘stories. The work draws from folktales and will involve a little bit of movement, song, doodling, and storytelling. Given the nature of the work, it is best suited for people over 18 years of age. Write to me for more details. |

The House Blue
What is home? Does a home need to be a physical space that one occupies? Can a place become a person and vice-versa? How does homelessness feel? What would its shape be? What does it mean to migrate, be displaced and to desert? What are the ways in which we engage with loss? These questions form the core themes of this work. The House Blue features a series of images that form part of an exhibit and a performative piece built in collaboration with Mritunjay Kumar, a documentary photographer and film-maker. The performative piece uses a mix of narration, projection of the images from the house, and live music. Anish has created a series of original music pieces and uses popular songs in Nagpuri, Bhojpuri, and Bangla. Originally produced by Serendipity Arts Foundation for the Serendipity Arts Festival, 2024. |
